February’s Art Adventure : Rediscovering Cornwall My art is very influenced by my surroundings and the places I visit. This is why I find it so important to take monthly Art Adventures, to search for new inspiration. Sometimes it is stories I find, other times characters or environments. Coastal Path from Flushing
This as a beautiful walk, about 40 mins long. Parking the car in Flushing, we started the walk just behind the beach. It is a lovely coastal path that takes you along the seafront, through fields and past little steams that run down to the sea. You end at Mylor, another village along the estuary, with a pretty harbour and a few nice cafes. We went on a grey day, and found it pretty muddy! But it was well worth all the squelching! With hedges filled with yellow heather and wind swept trees it felt magical. There was one particular old oak tree, standing on the cliffside, that really took my breath away. I couldn’t help but imagine the story it would tell if only it could talk. Of years standing on that cliff… Definitely a jump off point for another art project I think… We also two saw seals on this walk! So close you could hear them snort!
