Workshops

When I’m not in the studio I love to support and encourage others with their own art. I run a variety of workshops for both adults and children in different venues around the South of the UK. Below are a list of upcoming events and some of my favourite past workshops.

I often work directly with schools and art groups, so please do get in touch if you would be interested in a custom workshop for your own group or organisation.

Imaginary Friends - Families, Collage Workshop

For this fun and creative workshop, families responded to the theme of ‘Imaginary Friends’ with collage, cardboard, and drawing. I began by sharing a story about my own imaginary friends, The Kanga Booangles (Part Kangaroo, part rabbit, cat and butterfly).  I then assisted the children in creating friends for the Kanga Booangles. Combining features from there own favourite animals, they too created new imaginary creatures. At the end we chose environments in the form of cardboard box scenes for the new creatures to call home.

Giant Story Book - Children’s Story Workshop

I started this workshop with lots of games. By rolling story dice and placing story pebbles in long lines we generated ideas for stories and characters. I also shared examples of wordless and non-sensical stories. After our play and learning each child got a huge double page to cover. At the end we put the pages together to make a Giant Story Book.

Story Backpacks - School workshop

A workshop created especially for a school group, studying Fairy Tales. After story time and some acetate drawing the class and I recreated ‘Princess and the Frog’ in the form of story backpacks. Each group of 4 were given a scene from the story to recreate inside a cardboard box. I then helped give each ‘box scene’ straps to become a backpack. We wore the backpacks on a parade for parents as the story was read out.
