About Me

Hello, I’m Emily Luke, a blue haired illustrator based in Cornwall in the UK. I have been working as an illustrator for just over 4 years and have a wealth of experience and knowledge.  I specialise in picture books, having a great love for character, story and sequence. In each of my projects I use my signature collage style. Combining carefully cut vintage textures, with fine liner pen, pencil and watercolour paints. The outcome is a fun and wonderfully textured artwork. (View my portfolio here)

My illustration experience…
I graduated from Falmouth University in 2021, with a first-class degree in Illustration. Since then, I have had the pleasure of working on a variety of picture books, educational books, chapter books, logos, advertising campaigns, and designs for cards and stationery.  In these 4 years I have developed a great level of knowledge and understanding. I am always excited for new projects and the opportunity to work with more lovely people. I am also a graduate of the ‘Good Ship illustration Business course’.

Working as an educator…
As well as working as an illustrator in my studio, I love to get out and connect with people. I work with children, adults and families to encourage positive creating and making. I have worked with Tate St Ives, The Poly in Falmouth, various schools across the Southwest and a few community centres, to bring excitement and joy with creativity and storytelling. Read more about my workshops and individual sessions here.

Away from illustrating …
When I’m not in the studio creating, I love surfing and sea swimming (yes, all year round!) I am also, a huge fan of hiking and wild camping!
